When to apply if you are in paid employment
Most categories of child-related work have already been phased-in. This means that people in these categories should already hold or have applied for a WWC card. If you fall under any of the following categories, you may now need to apply from 2009 (refer to the guide below). Make arrangements with your employer for when to apply between 1 Jan 2009 - 31 Dec 2010.
Category 2. Community kindergarten
Paid employees should have already applied unless they:
Started before 1 January 2006: apply between 1 Jan 2009 and 31 Dec 2010 Make arrangements with your employer for when to apply during this period.
Category 3. Educational institution for children
The Department of Education and Training (DET) has implemented internal phasing in arrangements that differ from those specified in the Working with Children Check Regulations. Consequently many DET employees will require the Working with Children Check earlier than previously indicated. See Internal Phasing in arrangements table here.
Category 7. Performance of Officer as defined in Children & Community Services Act 2004
Paid employees
Started before 1 January 2006: apply between 1 Jan – 31 December 2009

Category 13. Ward of public or private hospital in which children are ordinarily patients
Category 17. School crossing for children
Paid employees should have already applied unless they:

Category 16. Transport service specifically for children
Paid employees
F & T drivers licence endorsements (hire or reward), who carry out child-related work in connection with a transport service specifically for children.
Started before 1 January 2006: apply between 1 Jan 2009 and 31 Dec 2010

Started in 2006: should have already applied
Started after 1 January 2007: apply on starting child-related work
Others
Started before 1 January 2006: apply between 1 Jan 2009 and 31 Dec 2010
