Welcome to the Working With Children Check Website for Western Australia

Employers &
Volunteer Co-ordinators

Here you can find information and guidelines on how to meet your responsibilities under the WWC legislation.

WWC criminal record checks are only one measure that responsible Employers and Volunteer Coordinators put in place to ensure their employees and volunteers are suitable to work with children under 18 years. To find out other ways to keep children in your care safe visit our child safe/child friendly page.

Are you the employer or volunteer coordinator?

You are an employer or volunteer coordinator if you employ/engage individuals:

  • under a contract of employment or apprenticeship (whether written or unwritten), or
  • on a voluntary basis under an agreement (whether written or unwritten), or
  • as ministers of religion or in any other capacity for the religious purposes of a religious organisation.

Did you know that:-

  • You can employ someone without a WWC Card so long as they apply on starting child-related work.
  • You can accept an Australia Post receipt of application from your employee or volunteer as proof they have applied.
  • Some people may already have a WWC Card because they have previously been in child-related work or volunteering and they do not need to reapply.
  • You can update your organisation's details and staff changes here
